Friday, November 30, 2001 George Harrison is gone. Even though I was born just as the Beatles were breaking up, I'm such a humongous fan of their music. I will sorely miss George's voice and his humour...(he did a lot of work with Monty Python and SNL folks in the 70's and 80s) and that incredibly beautiful soaring guitar. Q104fm seems to have thrown all their programming out the window and are having an enormous George/Beatle fest, which is only appropriate. I'm subjecting everyone else in the office to this, whether they like it or not. I am really missing one of my co-workers right now, who would totally understand. (sigh) I read this beautiful quote: Harrison’s family has released a statement saying, “He left this world as he lived in it, conscious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends. He often said, ‘Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another.’ ” and this one: In an interview at the time, George said, "I remembered Jesus said somewhere, 'Knock and the door shall be opened,' and I said, [knock, knock] 'Hellooooo!' The Lord has got a million names. Whatever you call Him, it doesn't matter as long as you call Him."
