George Harrison is gone. Even though I was born just as the Beatles were breaking up, I'm such a humongous fan of their music. I will sorely miss George's voice and his humour...(he did a lot of work with Monty Python and SNL folks in the 70's and 80s) and that incredibly beautiful soaring guitar. Q104fm seems to have thrown all their programming out the window and are having an enormous George/Beatle fest, which is only appropriate. I'm subjecting everyone else in the office to this, whether they like it or not. I am really missing one of my co-workers right now, who would totally understand. (sigh) I read this beautiful quote: Harrison’s family has released a statement saying, “He left this world as he lived in it, conscious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends. He often said, ‘Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another.’ ” and this one: In an interview at the time, George said, "I remembered Jesus said somewhere, 'Knock and the door shall be opened,' and I said, [knock, knock] 'Hellooooo!' The Lord has got a million names. Whatever you call Him, it doesn't matter as long as you call Him." (........sigh..........) links: Harrison article by Pamela DeBarres George Harrison is dead at 58 the Beatles website George's very Python-esque website

My dinner tonight: potato chips, chocolate-chip cookies, and tea. Oh-so nutritious.... Saw this great site today that I really want to explore... it looks like an awful lot of fun and a good way to energize my creative batteries. I also just finished painting our Christmas card and I'm happy with the way it turned out... I think my work has gotten even more illustrative; this card is reminding me of a children's book, which is good since that was the look I was going for.

Am having a very "I feel like an idiot" moment. I insist that I don't need a PDA, yet can't keep everything straight in my head..... I have a meeting tonight, am bringing cookies, just made them but they will probably fall apart by the time I get there, and just realized that nobody said who was bringing drinks. Must also run by store. Arrgh. Realized also that the whole reason I came up here was to write "with nuts" and "without nuts" labels for them, but got distracted by lure of computer instead. later that night.... I grabbed my directions, jacket, etc. and headed out the door, only to realize that I left the cookies on the countertop. Ran back, got cookies, threw everything (gently) in car, zoomed off to store because I decided to buy soda and chips to supplement cookies. Entered parking lot the wrong way and was tsked and waved at by an old lady getting into her big old boat of a car, who gestured that I had come in the wrong way and needed to turn around. I was trying to come up with a polite way to gesture that I knew that, thank you, and there was no room for me to turn around, and that she wasn't particularly helping; I settled for a shrug and a "hey, whatcha gonna do?" expression. Got stuff, paid for stuff, ran out, got to meeting just in time. Fortified myself with big deep breaths of air and a few handfuls of chips. Phew. This is the sweet part: at the meeting, I found I had been described as, "You know, Elena...she has all that amazing energy, and it just comes out of the ends of her hair like music notes." A woman next to me turned and said, "What a great painting that would make! You should illustrate it! " Y'know, I just think I might...

We are having much construction done on our house. Yesterday was the long-awaited day when they laid the carpeting.... (at last!) I drew a tiny heart with our initials in it and the words "true love" next to it in the corner of our bedroom. It matches the heart I put in the cement in the foundation, way back in August when all this began. I like the idea that a little symbol of our love is in the very foundation of the house, just like our love is the foundation for everything...our marriage, the house, our family.... And today they spoke the beautiful words, "when we put in the fireplace next week..." Yahoo!

This is my first foray into the blogger world. Please be patient with me. I am an artist-creative type, who blows bubbles and writes on the sidewalk with chalk. I paint. I try to make my life interesting. [Actually, I try to make everyone's life interesting. Why keep all the fun to myself?]
